John has sung baritone roles for Preston Opera, including Papageno, Nabucco, Tonio and Germont. He has also sung Germont and Morales for Lakeland Opera and appeared as the Bishop of Lima in the UK premiere of Lord Berners' Le Carosse du Saint-Sacrament for Dorset Opera, where he has been a member of the chorus for several years. In a previous life as a tenor he has sung most of the lead roles in the Savoy operas as well as Peter Quint in Turn of the Screw, Macheath in The Beggar's Opera and Aeneas in Dido and Aeneas. John was a founder member of Encore Opera, where he sang a huge selection of the standard baritone repertoire, over a period of twenty years, in operatic concerts all over North-West England.
JAMIE FORMOY – MacDuff
Jamie is currently studying on the MMus performance course at the Royal Northern College of Music under the tutelage of Nicholas Powell. Previous operatic roles include Pluto (Orpheus in the Underworld), Antonio (The Gondoliers) and he Major General (Pirates of Penzance). Currently Jamie is covering three roles in Vaughan Williams’ The Pilgrims Progress at the RNCM. Jamie is delighted to be making his debut at Preston Opera in one of Verdi’s great masterpieces.
