Norma
The Saturday Performance
The Wednesday and Saturday performances featured the up-and-coming young tenor Andrew Slitheran as the pro-Consul Pollione. His robust rendering captured the essence of the role and the hearts of the audience. Laura Hudson followed her highly praised Aida with another super-charged performance as the jilted priestess Norma. Joan Aitchison as Pollione's bit-on-the- side provided an ideal compliment to Laura and their rendition of the Act II duets proved one of the high points of recent productions. Michael Seager produced a strong performance in the bass role of Norma's father, the Archdruid Oroveso. Rebecca Noblet as Norma's confidante and Mike Bamford as the centurion Flavio completed a very strong cast of principals.
