Elixir of Love

(Friday performance)


The spring 2010 production at the Charter Theatre was The Elixir of Love(Donizetti) with the action transposed to California in the days of the early 20th C. "gold rush". The part of Adina was taken by Rachel Ashton, Nemorino by Anthony Seaman, Belcore by Andrew Lamb, Dr. Dulcamara by Arthur Baines and Giannetta by Christina Finley. Saloon Dancers were Helen Gregory and Julie Walker.
The set was designed by Geoff Horton, the conductor was Chris Gill and the producer was Diane Mackley.

Belcore immediately proposes to Adina
 

 

 

Adina is clearly impressed

 


Enter Dr Dulcamara with his "quack" remedies

 

 



 

The Saloon girls are impressed

 




 




 


They all buy a bottle!

 

 


Adina shuns Nemorino's advances

 

Belcore reads orders to depart that evening

 

 



Belcore and Adina agree to marry  that day ....much to Nemorino' despair




Finale act1 showing the entire stage and set

 

 


Act II, the wedding feast.

 

Nemorino enlists to get money to buy another bottle of the elixir.

 

The saloon girls hear that Nemorino has inherited his uncle's fortune!

Nemorino thinks the girls like him because of the elixir


Dulcamara points out that Adina has lost her true love


...but Nemorino has noticed a "furtive tear" in Adina's eye







Ah! They are together at last!






All celebrate at the grand finale
