Auditions for "Tales of Hofmann"

A fully staged production with orchestra to be performed in The Play House Theatre Preston

Thursday 21st October to Sunday 24th October 2010,

Further auditions are to be held for the role of Dapertutto (baritone) and for Hoffmann (tenor, double cast). Please contact [Geoff] if you are interested in auditioning for either of these roles.

Auditions for "A Masked Ball"

A fully staged production with orchestra to be performed w/b 28 March 2011 in the Charter Theatre, Preston

Auditions for the principal roles will be held on Sunday 27^th June and Sunday 4^th July at St Andrew’s CE Primary School, Tulketh Road, Preston PR2 1EQ

We will be using the Operas in English edition, but for the audition you may sing from any edition, in English or Italian. Performances will be in English. The performances will be conducted by Dr Colin Beeson.

It is our intention to double-cast major principal parts.

Applicants should note that although we aim for and regularly achieve professional standards we are nonetheless an amateur company. We do not therefore pay soloists other than in exceptional circumstances, although we occasionally pay travelling expenses. We do, however, offer opportunities for singers and players to undertake roles that they may not easily find elsewhere, backed by a strong chorus and orchestra which provide them with valuable experience working with conductors of a high calibre. Many Preston Opera members and conductors have moved on to successful professional careers.
